Storyteller // Strategist // Spokesperson:

Meet Laurie Simmons

It’s always been a dream of mine to start my own public relations and communications consulting business, and I am excited to begin this journey here in Central Texas!

I most recently worked for the City of Temple as their Public Relations Manager, where I served as the city’s spokesperson and managed the strategic communications, crisis communications and community engagement programs. I cultivated relationships with every local news outlet in the Waco/Temple/Killeen media market, pitching proactive stories to elevate the City’s image while also protecting its reputation during crisis events.

Before moving to Central Texas, I spent several years in Hawaii, serving as a Public Relations Account Supervisor for the state’s largest integrated marketing agency, Anthology Group. My client portfolio included organizations and companies in government, transportation, energy, real estate, non-profit and travel sectors, where I helped guide their daily public relations strategies as well as their long-term communications planning efforts.

My first job in public relations came as a spokesperson for the Virginia Department of Transportation. In addition to responding to media inquiries as a public information officer for the Hampton Roads District, I managed communications and community outreach programs for several large-scale transportation projects, including the $2.1 billion Elizabeth River Tunnels P3 Project as well as the $600 million I-64 High Rise Bridge Project.

I began my career as a journalist, working at television stations in Georgia, Florida and Virginia. As an investigative reporter, I’ve been honored with several industry awards from the Virginia Associated Press and the Georgia Association of Broadcasters, as well as an EMMY from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
